How Your vision Becomes Our Project
Every remodel is different. That’s why Ashland Builders offers a step-by-step series of in-depth consultations where you’re in charge of every aspect of the remodel process.
Here’s what that looks like:
We Listen to You
-
Take a few minutes to fill out the form on our website, email, or call.
We’ll go over a couple of things upfront:
We want to hear all about your project. Of course, we will only be able to get so much from a phone call, but we want to have a good idea of what we will be coming to see and where you want to take it.
We’ll talk you through our process. Every project is going to be different, but we have a streamlined method for getting from the beginning to the end thoroughly and efficiently.
It’s important that we are all on the same page when it comes to the cost of a project. This is always challenging. As much as we want to be able to give you the cost of the project right away, we can’t. There are too many variables to know until we really get into the design process.
-
If we are all feeling ready to proceed by the end of our initial conversation, we will schedule our first in-person meeting at the location of the proposed project.
While we are there, we will have a few goals:
We need to get a sense of the space as it already is. We will want to walk through and take pictures and videos as we go. We want to know specifically what it is that you like and dislike about the way it is now.
There may be some specific things that stand out to us in this initial meeting that may affect the cost, or even the feasibility, of the project. We will let you know as best as we can.
We want to talk with all of the decision-makers that will be involved in the process. With all of the ground we will cover in this meeting, it’s important that everyone gets to ask questions.
-
After the in-person meeting in the potential remodel space, we will be able to start the design and planning phase of the job. This is arguably the most important part of what we do.
We are more than happy to take on most design projects in-house, but if you would like to work with an interior designer or an architect, we will be more than happy to connect you with someone we have a relationship with and are already working with on other projects.
If you already have someone to design what you want, let us know early on. We like to work with designers starting at the very beginning of the process.
-
Once all of the details are worked out and we have permission from the building department, we can start working on-site.
During the first three phases you will have worked with our Pre-Construction Team. Before we start working in your house, our Pre-Construction Team will schedule a time to introduce you to our Construction Team. From that point on the Pre-Construction Team will be there to help with questions, but the Construction Team will be your main point of contact.
As we go, we will keep you informed about all that is going on through our weekly project updates. Our past clients have loved having detailed reports to better understand where their project is throughout the process.
Pricing a remodel is a lot like solving a puzzle when half the pieces are hidden behind drywall and linoleum. Unlike new builds, the existing structure’s variability makes it impossible to give a dollar-per-square-foot figure off the bat. Be wary of anyone who promises a magic number without first thoroughly getting information about the existing home and remodel scope.
Fortunately, we have a lot of experience working with homes of various ages in Southern Oregon to help us identify problem areas and help you prepare for what we might find.
During the remodel’s early phases, we’ll discuss your home’s history and age, and leave a starting threshold of room in your budget for repairs. In the event of a larger damage discovery, we won’t spend an extra dime without your permission and offer you a range of solutions to get your home repaired and your remodel back on track.
